Alje Drost (63) already supports Hapin for more than fifteen years. His parents were supporters from the start. Alje and his wife Margret continued the tradition. As a former teacher in secondary vocational education Alje is especially interested in education and scholarships. That's why he follows an initiative like GrantGesture with particular interest.
Yunita Irap was born in Genyem, the outskirts of Jayapura. Her father is a farmer and her mother is a housewife. To cut down living expences she shares a room in the city with her cousin. Yunita receives some financial support from her father but it is not enough for her tuition fee.
More and more international companies are investing in Papua. Therefore knowledge of English is very important, more so in the future. The courses offered in the capital Jayapura are aimed at young adults. A child's brain however picks up a foreign languages much easier.

Good education is of the utmost importance to the development of Papua. To participate fully in civil society and to give direction to one’s future and that of Papua in general demands a variety of capacities and competences. This applies to participation of economic life, the ability to articulate individual rights and interests, and to exercise public, political and executive functions.
For market women from Papua it is not easy to sell products in modern Jayapura. The competition is fierce, especially since non-Papuans sell the same merchandise at a better place on the market.
In many ways Papuans are unlike other Indonesians, whereas they are equal before law. It is the responsibility of the Indonesian government to protect minorities and to ensure that every citizen has equal rights.
