Tedora is a young and energetic woman. She and her husband are the community’s pioneers in money management. They participate in the savings program that has been set up together with the local bank. This means that the income Tedora can earn after the sewing class by selling homemade products, can be put into a savings account. Several families from the Asmat community are now following their lead and are also participating in the program.
This story is part of a series that introduces you to six Asmat women who take a sewing class in Merauke. The initiator is Edo Mote, who has set up various projects for the Asmat community in deprived areas with his foundation Papua Mandiri 2050.
