Many Papuan women make a living on the market by selling fruit, fish, sago or nuts. This trade dominates their daily life. With support of Hapin-Papua Support Foundation, these women learn all kinds of entrepreneurial skills in a five-day course. How can you best buy, negotiate, apply for credit and save products for your business and your family? The last training, in the month of October, was largely financed by a nice donation from the Netherlands and the donations collected for this project on the occasion of a jubilee donor. Ten women who previously attended the training now trained a group of 40 women from the Jayapura area. It was an experience that gave a tremendous boost to the self-confidence and motivation of people who face discrimination and humiliation in two ways (as Papua and as a woman) day in and day out.
The financing of this project was realized through a fundraising campaign by a donor and the Bredius foundation.
