Project Description
Place: Abepura
Year: 2012 – 2019
One of Hapin’s ongoing projects is this microcredit project. Organized groups of women receive small loans and invest that in (small-scale) entrepreneurship. The loans are repaid with the profits made. This project started in 2010 with 2 moms on the market in Abepura.
This was such a great success that 58 women and 2 men are now supported in 3 different markets in the Jayapura region (capital of Papua). One of the conditions to participate in this program is to take and complete an accounting course. Five years later, there is clear growth of the companies and the entrepreneurs are even able to save and make follow-up investments with small steps.
