Thanks to the dedicated efforts of Soroptimist Club Aurora in Leiden, two young Papua students can continue their studies. The club owned an antique doll collection and decided to sell it for the benefit of Hapin. The full proceeds — €2,500 — are designated for Sarima (sociology) and Julita (English).
The cheque was recently handed over to scholarship coordinator Sophie Wijsenbeek-Schreurs and board member Yvonne Carels. Thanks to this contribution, the scholarship fund can continue supporting young people who — with determination and ambition — are building a future in their own country.
On behalf of Hapin: our heartfelt thanks to all members of Soroptimist Club Aurora for this valuable contribution.

About the students

Student Sarima (20): moving forward on her own
After losing her grandmother, Sarima is on her own. Yet she keeps going — committed to her Sociology studies and her community. She helps wherever she can, from university projects to fishing villages.

Meet Julita (21): English Student
In Sentani, Julita (21) is studying English. She helps children in remote villages and dreams of creating a space where young people can learn. Language as the key to a better future.
