On 23 February 2012 it was forty years ago that HAPIN was founded. This happened in Veere, Zeeland, in the living room of Thera Beun-Voorstad. Together with Nicolaas Padding and Nico Jouwe they were the driving force behind the foundation.
The objective of HAPIN then was described as followed: “to promote of the welfare of the indigenous people of the former Dutch New Guinea, by rendering them financial,material and moral support.
