Project Description
Yunita Irap was born in Genyem, the outskirts of Jayapura. Her father is a farmer and her mother is a housewife. To cut down living expences she shares a room in the city with her cousin. Yunita receives some financial support from her father but it is not enough for her tuition fee.
Yunita would like to become a teacher in an elementary school. In her opinion elementary school is the most important part of a child’s education; it is where you can provide him or her with a good start for life. Elementary teachers in small villages in Papua are scarce. Especially in the highlands of Papua which is the most remote area of the island. Thus in her dream she sees herself teaching children in a small village somewhere in Papua. If there is but one child who wants to go to school, she will go there.
