Project Description

Timotius Yoafifi, better known as Timo, is 21 years old and an only child. This is unusual in Papua. His father works as an independent entrepreneur and his mother is a housewife. They live in Dox IX in Jayapura. When he went to primary school, he lived with his grandmother because the school was too far from his childhood home.
After high school, Timo really wanted to go to the university but unfortunately he wasn’t selected for the education of his choice, accountancy. He decided to work for a year instead. Timo made good use of his spare time by taking computer lessons.
After a year he underwent the same selection procedure for the university and this time with success. Timo studies accountancy at Yapis University in Jayapura. In his spare time, he teaches Sunday School children and helps prepare lunch. After two years of teaching he met Hapin-Papua employee Donna. She asked him to work for Hapin as a debt collector for Hapin’s microcredit projects. He admires these market women for their perseverance, dedication and energy. After a few hours of sleep, they are back on the market the next day to sell their goods. In addition to this side job, Timo also receives a scholarship from Hapin. This means that he does not have to worry about not being able to pay for his school fees. Ultimately he hopes to realize his dream by becoming an independent entrepreneur.
