Meet Yuni (29): A Teacher in the Making

Yuni has faced more loss and hardship in her young life than many experience in a lifetime. Her mother passed away when she was just three years old. Despite serious illness, her father took care of the family. But life remained difficult: Yuni’s father, a sister, and a brother have all since passed away.

Yuni has worked incredibly hard to pay for her teacher training. By working as a cleaner, a barista, and a market vendor, she has come a long way toward achieving her dream: helping children who, like her, come from challenging family situations. Hapin – Papua Support Foundation will support Yuni in the coming period. It is her heartfelt wish to become a teacher so that she can offer hope and resilience to vulnerable children.
