Project Description
On August 5th, the book ‘Mambesak – symbol of cultural awakening of the Papua people’ was baptized in Abepura (Papua). Founder of the music and dance group Mambesak, Arnold Ap, (cultural anthropologist, poet and musician), was central to the symposium that was held on the occasion of the publication of this book. Hapin contributed financially to this event. Ap was brutally murdered by Indonesian soldiers in 1984. Arnold Ap’s widow and her children fled to the Netherlands after his death.
