Working as a consultant for Hapin in Papua can sometimes demand a lot from you. Project coordinator Irma recently traveled to the village of Samenage together with teacher Tri Arisanti. And you don’t get there easily! From Jayapura, Irma and Tri took a flight to Wamena, after which they could join a small cargo flight to a nearby village. There, a hike of no less than 8 (!) hours awaited them before the women arrived in Samenage. In Samenage, Irma and Tri are reactivating the primary and secondary education. Because unfortunately, the education system in Papua is often characterized by corruption, abuse of power, money in the wrong pockets and absent teachers. A long-term process, with hopefully good results.
