Project Description

waterschade-300x225Early March the Kemiri river overflowed. The surrounding villages weren’t prepared for a flashflood and certainly couldn’t oversee the disastrous consequences.

It is a miracle that nobody was injured, but many homes and possesions were destroyed. The Monim family who lives near this river, saw their kiosk and fishingponds disappear in the flasflow and hence their source of income. The relief goods distributed by the local government is limited to a canned fish, a box of noodles, five bars of soap and a bag of rice.

The church has stepped in and has given the family an extra bag of rice, cooking oil and soap. However, more is needed to rebuild the lives of this community. Without income, they can not sustain themselves. Hapin therefore supports this community in rebuilding their kiosk and fish ponds.
