For young people from the highlands of Papua, being able to study in the city is the exception rather than the rule. The distance to travel to the city is enormous, and life there is very different culturally and socially. But not every family has the money to bear the high study costs. Efet Asso (24) is one of the few young people from the Baliem Valley for whom it became possible to enroll at the university in Jayapura. That didn't happen without a fight.

Delin is 27 years old and the second child in a family of five children. With the family’s small budget, Delin completed part of a nursing course. However, she had to stop early because all the study costs together became too high. The will to continue studying remained.
