To be honest, his big dream was to become a footballer. In his younger years, you could find Dionisius, day in, day out on the football field in his neighborhood. He participated in almost all competitions between villages and schools on Biak, the island where he grew up. But his parents would much rather have him go to college. Much to Dionisius’ frustration, because if he can’t pursue his dream, what’s the point?
Until a friend asks him to accompany her to go to Jayapura, where they registered for two universities. Dionisius was admitted to both courses, but unfortunately his girlfriend was not. It makes Dionisius realize that he has been given a rare opportunity. His frustration turns into gratitude and Dionisius has now started his course on health analyst. However, life as a student in Jayapura is expensive. Dionisius’ parents have a modest income and can only contribute a limited amount to the education costs of him and his older brother. That is why Dionisius works as a cleaner in addition to his studies. That income helps but it is still not enough to fully cover living, transport and study costs. Hapin will contribute the missing amount from its scholarship fund in the coming years.
